A Tree of Thanksgiving...

OK, I know many of you are going to think that I have totally lost it... but we put up our Christmas tree yesterday. BUT... we are starting a new EggeBrecht tradition! We will have a Tree of Thanksgiving from November 1 - December 1st and then it will morph into the traditional Christmas tree...

So, here is how it works. I cut out a million leaves (can't wait until the kids are old enough to help with this part of it!). We are mailing them out to friends and family. The idea is that we want people to write what they are thankful for and mail them back. As we get them in the mail - we will read them and talk about them...

I know our kids are a little young - but heck - Wade and I could use some reminders of things to be thankful for too! My hope is that as our kids grow up, they will see all the great everyday things that people are thankful for. Who knows, maybe some of the things that people will write down are things that we don't think to be thankful for! We will read them at dinner - pray for the people who sent in the new leaves and hang them on our tree!

I must say, it is really fun to look at our "Tree of Thanksgiving" with it's autumn colored ribbon, brown tree skirt (sheet) and white lights... Made me think a couple of times today of things I am thankful for! Too bad it takes a tree to remind me to stop and be thankful!

I LOVE the Thanksgiving tree idea!! So you have your full tree up already? What a great idea--then just change out the decorations!

Anyway, we are mailing ours tomorrow, so be on the lookout. Thanks for involving us. You are such an inspiration. Love ya!!!!!
