Cute Idea...

This is Belle (or Belle Belle as Noah calls her!) Belle just turned 6 and I just HAD to share this birthday tradition with you...

Whit (her mom) makes her breakfast in bed! Is that NOT JUST THE GREATEST IDEA? I love birthdays over any other holiday for kids because it is all about them. I love all other holidays too but in our house they are more about the Christian element - what they really mean - and not the society's definition as present holidays...

Take Christmas - I don't think it should be overboard... I think a few gifts and not even BIG ones... Easter - sure do egg hunts and little baskets - but I really want it to be about the reason and not so much the greed... BUT... don't get me wrong - we celebrate with the fun stuff - just not the gimmie, gimmie, gimmie....

But birthdays are totally different. It is a celebration of life, accomplishments, and WHO the person is. That is why when I saw this picture - I had to share...

This breakfast in bed was complete - with flowers, chocolate chip pancakes, presents, the WHOLE thing! And Belle could not have loved it more... It was the FIRST thing she told me about when we called... and you can see that she had gifts. The very fact that she was made to feel special made the top of the list before any gifts and I just think that is the coolest thing EVER.

AND, with having twins - I think it is even that much more important for us to celebrate the individuals... It is SO cool that they were born together but I want to always remember that they are independent of each other and deserve the spotlight individually as much as they get it for being twins...

Thanks Whit for the fab idea! I love it and can not wait to make it a tradition in our home... good thing it is not breakfast in the crib! Ha... think we will start with Noah's 4th and go from there!
