Comments Worth Sharing...

Here is a comment left by a friend who also happens to be a dietitian! She was responding about my blog on Kids and Veggie Consumption! She has some great advice and I think the thing that jumped out at me the most was remembering portion size with kids!

Check out Jenny's blog at http://thomanfamily.blogspot.com !

"Give them the protein and veggies first on their plate...and remember portion
size...their stomachs are the size of their fists.... so for example
carrots...give them 3-5 cooked carrots and let them accomplish that...they will
feel so good that they ate just that much. Have them finish their
chicken...remember again portion size....cut up chicken into small pieces and
put them on their plate. Then when they have finished all that....dish out the
fruit and bread...also watch the milk/drinking consumption...sometimes if the
little ones fill up on fluids, they won't have room for food....remember this
when you go out to dinner...when ordering, ask the waitress or waiter to bring
the drinks with meals, so the kids won't even have them in site to sip on.
Instead let them color or play tracing games on paper at the restaurant table. I
hope this helps and any time you have questions just let me know. Always
remember.....Lisa....Kids portions sizes are a lot different then adult portion
sizes...a lot of parents forget that and try to feed our kids too much."
