Seeing Spots...

OK - I have to admit - when we found out we were having B/G twins... I was a little perplexed at how to decorate their room... I know, I worry about the dumb stuff... So - we just painted a red stripe around the room to match their farm bedding... kinda generic but worked for both sexes.

Well, that bedding has come and gone since they can't have bumper pads... they just use them to climb out... and since Addie's crib spindle broke (we are waiting to see if the company is going to add her crib to the 250,000 cribs on the recall list this year...) and she is in a pak-n-play I decided it was the perfect time to finally complete their room...
So what do you do for B/G twins? Well, ever since they were born - my mom has teasingly called them Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Seuss's Cat in the Hat... so I decided to go whimsical in their room with dots, stripes and framed pages from the Cat in the Hat book...
I have an AMAZING friend who paints customs everything - and I am going to enlist her in making custom signs for over their beds (which will be sooner now thanks to the crib issue).... she made them a growth chart and some letters for their bathroom that I will be posting pics of VERY soon....

So, here was step one of the polka dots... I needed the perfect size dot... the carbon monoxide detector was the PERFECT size! Ha ha... So, I drew and drew, and measured and drew.... and then stopped measuring - who is going to notice if they are off a little and I don't think I know anyone brave enough to mention it if they did notice!

And here is day one of painting... this may take a while... I have the smell-less, vapor less paint they sell now and sneak in while they are sleeping... AND... I forgot that when you paint dark on light... it is going to take a bazillion coats! Noah LOVES the circles and wants them in his room... ummm.... NO! I did let him help me paint a few of them... I know all mom's think their kids are amazing - but this kid really is great at painting.... and he loves it!

Day Two... Not too shabby - you can really tell which are 1 coat and which are 2 coats... think they will have to be 3 coats total! There is one more row of dots at the bottom but I need to tape it off to do those and always forget before the twins go down for their nap.
So, once this wall is done - I can move the dresser back over - anchor it to the wall - put up the hutch that got taken down because the cribs had to be separated due to a very accurate arm (Addie and her throwing things to wake up her brother) and I will be able to start on wall #2... I am hoping to have it done before we venture to TX in late April... we shall see!

I guess the only question I have now is...
WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO?

Lisa they look great! The room is going to be so cute, I can't wait to see it finished! My black polka dots needed two coats; totally a pain but well worth it!

after doing the vertical stripes in the kids room and I can TOTALLY appreciate those dots! To make them look perfectly spaced apart took some work I'm sure! And it does look perfect--good job!
