Mission Organization!

So - I have been on a new kick to reorganize my life. I don't want to wake up some day and realize that I never really spent time with the kids because I was always doing something else that "needed" to be done. But - on the flip of that - I don't want to have a disorganized and messy household either. Where is the balance?

So that is what I have been searching for - balance. I think I have found it. I have a new schedule for myself of things that need to get done. I have been doing this for about 3 weeks religiously and it really seems to be working - hence the post prior to this... so for any of you who want to know what it is - here it goes...
Sundays - Sheets / Towels
Monday - Whites / Vacuum / Mop
Tuesdays - Darks / Colors
Wednesdays - Sheets / Towels / Vacuum / Mop
Thursdays - Whites / Rugs
Fridays - Darks / Colors / Clean entire house
Saturdays - NOTHING!
I get up at the latest at 6am with the kids. Now, I am semi spoiled because my washer has a delay start so when I get up at 6am the load that I put in the night before is just finishing and is ready for the dryer! By 9:30 or 10am all chores like unloading the dishwasher, laundry, breakfast, etc. are done. I now have the rest of the day to play with and enjoy the kids. We swing more, take more walks and I have way more one on one time with them. I do the vacuuming and moping when they are napping or when the go to bed at night. I prefer to do it when they go to bed because the next morning I wake up to a pristine floor.
Fridays are my stay at home day because Costco and grocery stores are packed and it makes it hard to maneuver a stroller and a cart. So, I just turned that into my workday. But ever since I started this rotation - it takes me 2 hours max to clean. I hit all 3 bathrooms, dust, Windex and even oil my kitchen cabinets. By mopping and vacuuming all week it is not a serious scrubbing and makes it so much easier.
Best benefit? The husband seems to notice more and says thanks all the time. Second best benefit? It makes all my Saturdays family days which will make great memories for our kids. Third best benefit? Besides Fridays - there is not a lot to do each day - so you can schedule outings, play dates, alone time, whatever and still stay on task! (Plus prior to this I could not tell you the last time I consistently washed rugs.... ewww!)
So if there are more blogs or I seem more "together" - I am blaming it on this (and the fact that Matt and Addie sleep through the night all the time and take regular naps now!!!)

Always ~

I am so glad I am not the only one that makes a "lesson plan" for my week!!! I too divide my laundry and cleaning by day - and it's hard to admit, but I even plan our meals every week!! It is way too TYPE A, but doesn't it feel great to know exactly what needs to be done?!?!?!
You are AMAZING-

I am so impressed with you and your thoughts of Motherhood. I can't wait to read your blog posts. You are so insightful and so wise. And I am stealing your weekily plan! I hope it helps me as well!
